Legislative Accomplishments

Jon Cross served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2019 to 2024 and represented the 83rd Ohio House District. It has been over 50 years since a Representative from Hardin County served in the Ohio House. Knowing he needed to deliver of his district, from day one, Jon was committed to passing meaningful legislation that would make Ohio safer, stronger, and more business-friendly. During his tenure, he authored 14 bills that were signed into law, contributing to Ohio’s ranking as one of the nation’s top 10 most business-friendly states.

Additionally, Jon worked tirelessly to secure more than $123 million in state funding for his district. His accomplishments reflect his ability to navigate the complexities of state politics, policy, and the legislative process—skills he now brings to his work with clients.

14 Bills Signed Into Law

  • House Bill 2 Created the TechCred and Individual Microcredential Assistance Program.

  • House Bill 405 Created a Family Forward financial assistance program for adoptions.

  • House Bill 352 Reformed the state’s workplace discrimination laws.

  • House Bill 224 Authorized medical professionals and facilities to fully utilize Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists to improve patient care (policy included in House Bill 197). 

  • House Bill 756 Allowed local school board/districts to set hiring criteria for substitute teachers during the COVID pandemic (Policy included in Senate Bill 1).

  • House Bill 293 Designateed Patrolman David L. Sterner Memorial Overpass in Hancock County.

  • House Bill 82 Eliminated unnecessary required assessment for high school graduation.

  • House Bill 106 Designated the month of January as Radon Awareness Month.

  • House Bill 188 Prohibited insurers from discriminating against living organ donors.

  • House Bill 215 Enacted The Business Fairness Act.

  • House Bill 430 Revised natural gas pipeline notification and public safety laws.

  • House Bill 97 Reduced annual registration tax for commercial trailers (included 134th GA Transportation Budget).

  • House Bill 174 Created the Ohio Venture Capital Tax Credit (Included 134th GA Operating Budget).

  • House Bill 81 Designated the Major David McGue Memorial Highway (St. Rt. 273) in Hardin County.

  • $30 million for Eagle Creek Flood Basin in Findlay-Hancock County. (Hancock) 

  • $15 million for Eagle Creek Flood Mitigation in Findlay-Hancock County. (Hancock) 

  • $5 million for dredging maintenance of Indian Lake (Logan) 

  • $1.25 million for Findlay-Hancock County YMCA Early Learning Center for Excellence. (Hancock)

  • $1 million for Findlay YMCA Child Development Center for Excellence. (Hancock) 

  • $750,000 for Indian Lake Weed Harvesting & Maintenance. (Logan) 

  • $500,000 for Findlay’s 50 North-Senior Center Expansion. (Hancock) 

  • $500,000 for livestock facilities at the Hancock County Fairgrounds. (Hancock)

  • $500,000 to revitalize Ada War Memorial Park. (Hardin)

  • $500,000 to expand the ONU HealthWise Mobile Health Clinic with new mobile RV. (Hardin)
